Board Chair Letter

Dear supporters,

2023 was our first full year under our new name as Propel ATL, as we embodied our expanded mission to transform our streets into safe, inclusive, and thriving spaces for everyone.

The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and Pedestrians Educating Drivers on Safety, or PEDS, came together in 2021 and rebranded to form Propel ATL in 2022.

Thanks to your support, we were able to make significant strides in Fiscal Year 2023. We successfully advocated for the City of Atlanta to complete a Vision Zero action plan that prioritizes safe street design and racial equity. We led a coalition of organizations to obtain feedback from more than 1,000 Atlanta transit users on MARTA’s bus network redesign. And, of course, to the excitement of many, we worked with the City of Atlanta to revive Atlanta Streets Alive — the beloved open streets program that draws thousands of people to experience car-free streets — as a regularly occurring program. We did all this as we introduced a program to make e-bikes more affordable, put bicycles and safety gear into the hands of more than 70 community members, and taught bike safety classes to countless more.

Every one of these accomplishments for safe streets for all demonstrates that Propel ATL serves as a major voice when it comes to advocacy for the safety and inclusion of Atlantans who walk, roll, bike, or take transit — including those whose own voices are too often not heard.

These accomplishments also reflect the power of what we can do with the support of our donors, partners, and volunteers. I’m excited as I look ahead to more advocacy wins in the year to come.

Thank you for your support in a safer, more sustainable Atlanta for us all.

All the best,

Stephanie Hudson
